Replacing an Old Privacy Fence in Dallas–Fort Worth

If your existing wood privacy fence is weathered, leaning, or difficult to maintain, replacement is an opportunity to consider a different material. DFW Steel Privacy installs a coordinated six-foot solid steel privacy fence for qualifying properties. We can review the removal of your old fence as part of a complete new installation.

A Replacement Is More Than a New Panel

Five Things to Check Before Replacing Your Privacy Fence

1. Old Fence Removal

Determine whether the existing fence, posts, and old concrete need removal and whether debris can be moved off the property easily. Removing a failing fence may expose grade changes, roots, utilities, or footing conditions that need a closer look.

2. Property Lines and Easements

Don't assume the old fence marks the legal property boundary or that a replacement can use exactly the same alignment. Verify boundaries and any applicable easements before finalizing the new layout.

3. Gate Openings

Decide how many gates you need, where they should swing, and how you use each opening. Gates are quoted separately from linear footage. They should be planned with the new fence rather than treated as an afterthought.

4. Grade, Access and Drainage

Sloped yards, retaining walls, limited equipment access, landscaping, and surface drainage can affect how the new fence is laid out and installed. Photos and rough measurements help identify potential adjustments early.

5. City and HOA Requirements

A fence that was already on the property is not necessarily approved for replacement in another material. Check your city and any HOA or deed restrictions. Some Dallas properties have material restrictions requiring a specific eligibility review.

Understand the Budget

How Much Does a Wood-to-Steel Fence Replacement Cost?

The new fence is priced by installed linear footage. For the six-foot steel system, our standard rate is $77/foot on 70–120-foot projects,$72/foot on 121–200-foot projects, and$67/foot for projects over 200 feet.

Existing-fence removal currently adds $5 per linear foot when needed. Standard gates, slopes, restricted access and estimated sales tax may add to the project total. These published rates are for our steel system, not a quote for replacing a fence with wood.

For example, a standard 100-foot steel fence with no gates has a fence subtotal of $7,700before estimated tax. If all 100 feet need removal, the published removal allowance adds $500. Actual requirements must still be reviewed.

Our installed price schedule explains the tiers and gate pricing, while the project range form accepts removal, slope, and access details.

Choosing the New Material

Why Replace a Wood Privacy Fence With Steel?

Wood privacy fencing has a familiar appearance and is often less expensive initially. A finished steel privacy system is worth considering if you're trying to reduce the recurring work of staining, sealing, and replacing worn wood boards.

Our offering is a specific six-foot solid steel system with coordinated posts, panels, and gates. It is not a generic metal picket fence or a wood fence with steel posts. Normal cleaning and inspections are still appropriate, and a finished steel system can be damaged by impact or unsuitable site conditions.
